President’s Message
This summer’s state convention was another success! The majority of the feedback we received was very good for the speakers, topics and networking opportunities while there. However, we also know there is room for improvement and we thank those of you who provided us feedback that included suggestions for next year. Also, our first-ever Trade Show had a large number of companies exhibiting (24) and while there were less attendees that we had hoped for, we learned a lot by having it, and look to improve upon this as well in 2012. Finally, for those who attended and didn’t get or take the opportunity to provide us feedback, please do so by contacting the IMBA office or myself or other state or local leaders.
Among the initiatives we are working on this year, our new website continues with its development and we anticipate announcing additional capabilities as the year progresses. Also, we continue to work on our Future Leaders Program and expect to have this ready to market in the early fall, and, we are also looking at a periodic newsletter for members as well as an annual sponsorship program for our members to take advantage of.
We’ve weathered many changes in the past couple of years and there are more on the way with the implementation of the Dodd-Frank legislation, including the start-up of the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau as well as other federal and state legislative and regulatory initiatives.
Those of us that remain are survivors!
I encourage you to be and stay active in the industry by volunteering with IMBA. Also, while we pass on critical information on mortgage lending regularly, stay informed on what impacts your job, company and industry and, when asked, respond to Mortgage Action Alliance calls to action! Support our PAC at the state level as well as at the national level. There is no more effective way to have your opinions heard!
Finally, a few things that I would ask that you practice; do business with a member as this is an important part of our association’s benefits, and, make an effort to recruit new members! While we have grown in the last 3 years from about 80 members to 96 today, there are many companies in Indiana that are not members who would benefit from joining. The association has material and local and state leaders to assist you with this so please call if you need help in this.
